How I Celebrated the Summer of 2010  I was the only Canadian to join a private No Compromise Leadership biking tour for 5 days in Vermont and little did I know what I was in for. The first day was far from a warm-up and just a teaser of what was to follow.It may have taken quite a few miles to work the kinks out of my legs and churn up those Vermont hills but the payoff was more than rewarding. The beauty of the rolling farmland, covered bridges, apple orchards and views of the Adirondacks towering over Lake Champlain was beyond description. Did you know that the state of Vermont is billboard-free? It is also the only state capital without a McDonalds and the last state to get a WalMart! Our nights were spent at 3 special, historic inns. The first one, the Shoreham Inn was my personal favourite. This was an authentic stagecoach stop that dates back to the 1790s. This beautifully restored inn exuded warmth and hospitality and amazing home-cooking. I loved their breakfasts - perfect for lumberjacks (and cyclists alike)! The upside was - I got to burn off all those calories each and every day. Yippee! Believe me, our riding wasn't all "uphill". I did get to swim, kayak, picnic and did I mention shop? How could anyone leave without buying real Vermont maple syrup? They say it tastes better than what we have from Quebec. I will definitely have to conduct my own taste test on that one. I also got to do a little Christmas shopping at a wood carver's gallery.
The highlight for me at the end of the day was always the camaraderie we shared and the making of new friendships with a little bit of business thrown in here and there. I know we will ride together again next year.
My Granddaughter's Christening I just had to share this with the many thoughtful Rosewater clients who ask me constantly about my gorgeous granddaughter, Savannah. Thank you for your caring and interest by the way! On July 18th, Savannah was christened at the Sidrabene Latvian outdoor chapel. The service was conducted in both languages. While photos cannot possibly capture what this day meant for our family, I hope this one brings a smile to your day.

It is with profound sadness that we say farewell to two long-time and cherished Rosewater Spa clients who recently passed away. Gone but not forgotten are Wendy Fradette-Williamson and Marilynne Grant. Both of these women were participants of our "Put The Roses Back In Your Cheeks" program, and were very appreciative of the kindness shown by our staff. Their gracious generosity and unwavering support of the Rosewater Relay for Life team has left an indelible impression in our minds and our hearts.
We'll remember Wendy and Marilynne for their tremendous courage. |
